If you have a business, you should have a Page for your business. Not only does this allow you to keep your personal and business lives separate on Facebook, but it also offers some amazing bonuses, like metrics and demographic information, the ability to stream through your Twitter, blog and YouTube channels, and the ability to create a like box so that you can gain more followers.
If you have a Facebook page for your business, it is a good idea for you to get a Landing, or Welcome tab for your page. There are a bunch of reasons for this:
- The landing tab is a kind of a welcome mat, or introduction, to folks who have not been to your page before. Instead of landing in the middle of a conversation (your wall), it allows them to get a sense of who you are. We also know that pages with Landing tabs get more “likes” than pages without.
- The landing tab is a call to action: most landing tabs incorporate a large graphic that encourages the reader to hit the “like” button.
- Landing tabs allow you to let the person who lands there know what value you will be passing on to them by them “liking” your page. “Liking” pages is no longer a novelty, and most of us, now, have literally hundreds of pages that we like, and are getting information from. We’re starting to feel a bit burnt out on that front. You need to give people a solid reason for them to “like” your page.
Creating a landing tab requires a bit of technical skill, because you have to create it using HTML. However, you can use a tool like HTML Editor, which allows you to create your tab in a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) format, and then it translates it into HTML for you (h/t: @kenparkin77).
