Despite RSS feeds seeming to be harder and harder to find these days, they still are really, all kinds of awesome. And here’s a good example of how they are awesome.
Let’s say there’s a hashtag you follow on Twitter. Maybe its a discussion hashtag, maybe it has to do with your business, or maybe you’re at a conference or are following an event. You are probably doing this in one of three ways:
- Using the twitter.com/search feature
- Creating a separate column in one of your Twitter clients (like Hootsuite) that constantly searches that hashtag
- Using a monitoring service, like Twitterfall or Monitter.
That’s great. But only you can see it. What if you want to take your search public, allow your readers to also follow that hashtag?
You can create an RSS feed for that hashtag, and then stream that RSS feed through the sidebar of your blog or website.
Here’s how.
And here’s that line of code you need:
http://search.twitter.com/search.atom?q=%23hashtag
