How to Create a Twitter Cover

Yesterday, Twitter made a couple of big announcements. They are updating the look of everyone’s profile, and they’re also rolling out an update to their iPad and iPhone apps.

The main change in your Twitter profile is that you can now add a cover image, similar to Facebook’s timeline.

Here’s what my new Twitter profile page looks like:

What’s the point of adding a cover image? Well, it feels like social media is moving more and more towards images (Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr) to speak for us, rather than words. This gives you another way to express yourself via image. You can’t however, really use this space for marketing, as your bio info will be projected over it.

In terms of image size, Twitter says the largest image you can upload is 1252×626 pixels (with a max file size of 5MB).

  1. Wow. already a video on the Twitter Cover.
    So I guess the proper name is Twitter Cover, not header?” Or I guess they mean the same thing.

    Only question I have is.
    Why

    Why did Twitter introduce this new ‘function’?
