It’s like Christmas!!
Seriously, it’s all I ever wanted.
People ask me all the time; “Why can’t I switch between accounts on Instagram?” “Why can’t I upload photos from my computer?” “Why can’t I schedule Instagram posts?” And the answer lies with Instagram. It would be easy enough for third parties to come up with apps to do all those things, but they can’t, because Instagram’s API is locked down.
Hence the reason you can hear a shout of joy from Instagram lovers all over the world, starting this week.
In December, Instagram began beta-testing multiple account switching with Android users, and they have now announced that, starting this week, multiple accounts will be available to everyone.
If you, like me, manage multiple Instagram accounts, you’ll understand what a big freaking deal this is! I run 3 Instagram accounts, and in order to post in any one of them, I have to log out of whatever account I’m currently in, and login to the one I want to post in.
Well, starting this morning, that hassle is a thing of the past. I have now attached all 3 accounts to my main @rebeccacoleman account, and can now toggle between them with a pull-down menu at the top of the page (where your user name is).
Instagram is rolling out this feature this week.
To access Instagram Account Switching:
- Update your app to version 7.15.
- You’ll know you have the update when you see this at the bottom of your “Settings” (under the gear in the upper right hand corner when you are on your profile) page:
- Tap the “Add account” option and login to your other accounts.
- To toggle between accounts, pull down the arrow beside your username on your profile page.
Happy ‘gramming!
