Top Instagram Tools

I will admit to being pretty distracted over the last few months. My head has been fully immersed in writing my cookbook, and I haven’t always been great at planning out my social content (like Instagram) over this time.

I try to post at a minimum of 6 times a week. The good thing about writing a cookbook is that you often have content; if you remember to document your work!

Well, I’m back in the game, and back to planning out the week’s content. I thought I’d share with you my favorite Instagram tools. These are all free apps that you can use to up your Insta game.

Editing tools

Okay, I know a bunch of you out there swear by VSCO and Afterlight, but personally, I’m a SnapSeed gal. I love this app for making my photos look sexy. You can increase brightness/light, saturation, even remove things you don’t want in your photo. Personally, I love (and use all the time) the HDR filter.

Layout and Collage

Since Insta started allowing for both portrait and landscape images, I haven’t had to use Squaredy as much, but I do still find myself using it upon occasion to create a square image.

Diptic is great for creating collages, including ones that have cool animated features.

Graphics tools

We all know how much people love quotes on Insta. There are some great options out there to create your own. Adobe Spark Post is my favorite, but I also really like Pablo by Buffer.

Scheduling

There aren’t really any free services that allow you to automatically post to Instagram. Later and Hootsuite both will allow you to create and schedule your posts, but you still have to log on to your Instagram and post them manually.

Analytics

If you transfer your account to a business account, you can have access to Instagram’s new analytics platform. I’m not ready to take that leap yet, and Iconosquare, which I was using for quite some time, recently went paid. I’m currently using Pickore.

Hashtags

I’m gutted about the loss of Grama, which I adored. Lately I’ve been using Tag ‘o’ Matic, but I’m not in love with it. I’d love to hear what apps you’re using to discover related/new hashtags.

So, there you have it! The Instagram tools I use on a daily basis. What ones are you using? I’d love to hear in the comments below.

  1. Love this tools list, will definitely check out some of these!

May I add, for layout – collage – editing, I use line camera app, love how it’s an all in one tool for editing images. As for scheduling, I use Socialdraft since they don’t need an app to send out notification if you have a pending post that is due to be pushed out, they just send an sms.
