The Problem With Facebook: Point and Counterpoint

I saw a couple of great videos this past week on Facebook, and I felt like they made nice counterpoints to each other, so I thought I’d share them with you and let you decide who wins the argument.

I’m a big fan of Scott Stratton’s no bullshit approach to marketing. His point in this video is that we are all being babies about Facebook’s latest changes about reach. And he has a point–we have, as he puts it, been living rent-free in Facebook since the beginning, so we should suck it up Princess.

Here’s the counter argument from Derek Muller of Veritasium. He argues that, first of all, not everyone on Facebook is or was an advertiser or brand, and secondly, that it is the content from these people, specifically friends, family, and creators that made the site worth visiting in the first place.
