For those of you, who, like me (although not for very much longer) have a WordPress-hosted blog, you will be very happy to know that WordPress has FINALLY added a “Tweet This” Widget.
I love WP. I’m their greatest fan. But it’s frustrating, because you certainly are limited by what you can do with a WP-hosted blog. For example, I can’t post Amazon Affiliate links. And this Tweet button has been a a long, long time coming.
Here’s how to install it:
- Log into your dashboard
- Scroll down the left-hand side menu board until you get to “Appearance.” If it’s not already expanded, click the arrow to expand.
- Now click on “Extras.”
- A window comes up that looks like this:
- Check the “Show a Twitter Tweet Button on my posts.”
- Hit “update” and you’re done!
This makes it a lot easier for folks to read your post and tweet it with one button, as opposed to having to copy the URL and past it into their Twitter client, shorten it, etc.
I don’t have the Extras button. 🙁 Do you have paid WordPress version?
No, it’s a Word Press-hosted blog. The only thing I can think of is that it takes some time to get everyone’s updated. Meanwhile, I check with other people I know who have WP-hosted blogs to see if they have the option on theirs, yet.
I’ve had this checked for some time, still nothing on the actual website/blog
A few months back, WP introduced the “Like” Button, remember? It took a couple of weeks for it to become active (full time) on my blog. I think this just might be a time thing–eventually it will work. I imagine WP has a lot of configuring to do.
Also, please note that on my blog, you don’t get the “Tweet” button until you go to the permalinked post page. Which means, if you are looking at the front page of my blog, and you see all the posts, you don’t see the Tweet button. When you click on the title of the post, and it takes you to that post, then you can see the Tweet button.
A little weird.
I dun have this feature.. all i have in extras is:
Extras
These are general extras that you can enable for your entire blog.
Enable mShots site previews on this blog
Display a mobile theme when this blog is viewed with a mobile browser
Hide related links on this blog, which means this blog won’t show up on other blogs or get traffic that way
Is your blog a WordPress hosted blog or a self-hosted blog? This is only for those with a WordPress hosted blog. If it’s self-hosted, you’ll have to use a different widget.
If it is WP hosted, it’s just probably a matter of time. WP has likely not gotten around to updating your blog just yet.
