Every year around this time, I have the same conversation with myself:
It’s the summer! You don’t have as many contracts! That means you have more time to work on your own business!
But, I’m tired.
But you have to make hay while the sun shines! Don’t you want to be successful?
Yes. But I’m tired. I need a break.
Whatever. Get your butt in gear.
Sometimes my inner slave-driver wins. But I think not this time.
It’s been a really busy six months. I’ve been teaching, doing PR, and blogging. I’ve had some pretty big upsets in my personal life. All that stuff takes it out of you.
So, I’m taking a break, kids. Michael is going to his gramma’s for a week, and I am going… I don’t know. Somewhere hopefully where it is hot and sunny, unlike Vancouver.
I’m working on some great posts for when I get back.
I’m also happy to announce that I’ve been offered another section at BCIT in the fall. That means I’ll be teaching at Emily Carr on Sunday afternoons and BCIT on Monday mornings and Tuesday nights. I’m pretty excited about that.
I am also working on creating an online course, which I’m super psyched about. I was going to launch it this summer, and I still may, but let’s see if I get my energy back after I have a bit of a vacation…
Have a great week! I’ll see you on the other side… hopefully refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated. Now, if only I had a Groupon for a spa…
just having that same conversation with myself today, it doesn’t help that it’s been disgustingly hot and humid here – it’s difficult enough to open a second popsicle let alone decide what is next and best for my business. I’ve made some promises to do some stuff next week. I’ll do it then, after I blow up the kiddie pool.
Slacking? I think not!
Entrepreneurs need a vacation to jumpstart their batteries! If you’re not going out of town might I suggest Sabai Thai Spa in West Vancouver? It’s a drive out so it might feel like you’re going out of town… do a 60-minute Thai Massage if you’ve never tried one before and if you like yoga… if lying on a table is more your thing, do a 90-minute Herbal Compress Massage.
Thanks for all the expert info on your blog! I referred you to someone as a conference speaker on PR for next Spring as well, so you’ll need the vacation… 🙂
Sandra
Thanks, you guys.
Sue, I’d gladly trade you some TO weather for the cooler temps we’ve been having here, although it looks like the weather might be starting to smarten up.
Sandra, I went to a Japanese bath and had a Shiatsu last year in Australia, and it was amazing. I wish we had something like that here, but it sounds like the Thai thing might be close… thanks for the recommendation.
Will you be at the conference, too?
Enjoy your down-time. I look forward to your future posts and will spend some time going through older ones which I’ve marked for reading 🙂
